Random but:
Been an avid enjoyer of the internet and content forever. Spent a few weeksthinking about what I want to do, spend time on, balancing short-term fun with long-term fun.
On this tweet/clip (here, 2 min 30 sec)…subsequent attention on this topic is somewhat interesting for the specific reason that even if a few areas of life are less…forgiving of mistakes than others, iteration is usually encouraged. Put another way…some areas of life allow you to try, fail, try, fail…with minimal permanent impairment.
Just the action of trying things at times it is actually still accretive even if you fail. You actually gain some public and private credits by trying something even if the outcome is useless. Some areas of life…where you need to make important decisions…you can be iterative in your thinking but the final decision matters immensely. Not saying that isn’t an arena at all but it is much less so in my view. The clip is a bit more direct than average but I like this line and always have liked the idea.
Sure, I have opinions on the totality of what is said and people can think what they want but the part on truth seems very true.
“Telling the truth especially when it is so clear and obvious can really touch a nerve”
Takeaway - Lot of signals in life encourage playing in the arena
I’m reminded of my second blog post, the video of Sam Altman talking about building the future and that most people have inherently bad internal risk calculus. Also interesting to chew on.
tl;dr post is pretty short to flip through!
Cheers,
